He wrote “love” on stones
hoping the world would find peace
they became weapons
peace
John : a birthday haiku
All you need is love
they derided as naive
he sent them acorns
5-7-5 (take one-hundred-and-seventy-six : the spaceman)
there are no conflicts
or wars upon my planet
nor have we mirrors
Breakfast Thoughts on a Sunday in spring
I broke my fast with bread and cheese
and looked for poetry to read
stanzas which bless
the earth
and wind
and skies
but found my needed reverie
within the peace surrounding me
and in the breeze
and birdsong
winging by.
5-7-5 (take one-hundred-and-thirty-one : John)
all you need is love
they derided as naive
he sent them acorns
5-7-5 (take one-hundred-and-five : peace)
I dream of a day
when ivy verdant and full
flies on all flagpoles
