Under The Sea

I watched two fish a kissin’
a kissin’ in the sea
and making lots of bubbles
until they noticed me
then they stopped a kissin’
and looked at me wide eyed
’twas right then I realised
I never should have spied
upon two fishes kissin’
’tis rather impolite
so in future I’ll remember
to try to do what’s right
and not watch fishes kissin’
but something else instead
perhaps some cuddlin’ octopi
gettin’ down on the seabed

The Ugly Fish

There’s a really ugly fish in the middle of my pond
his underbite’s atrocious and his fins are far too long
he sits among the weeds all day acting rather coy
and carps on his misfortune and sucks all of the joy
out of all the other fish which spend their time in there
having to put up with him, it really isn’t fair
I think I’ll catch a pelican and set him out to sneak
around my little garden pond sporting
his pointy beak
with luck he’ll feel quite peckish and break the water’s still
and gulp that ugly fish right up into his saggy bill.

One Minute Rhyme Mark VII

I had a notion
in the ocean
you couldn’t hear a sound
but I’ve discovered
that it’s simply
not the case
from the North Sea
to the south seas
and all the seas around
there’s fish chatting
and a singing
every place.
Sharks are narks
and whine a lot
about their bloody kids
and dories
tell their stories
to all who’ll hear
flatfish like to shout
when there’s nobody about
and schools of sardines
run around and cheer.

A Fish Called Paul

Today I chatted with a fish
painted on a wall
I didn’t catch his name I fear
I think I’ll call him Paul
He really was a happy soul
(or perhaps he was a plaice?)
a friendlier fish you could not find
a wide smile on his face.
We joked around a little while
with fishy puns and such
but all too short our sojourn was
Paul had to catch his bus.
