The Dragon’s Curse

the dragon’s breath
brought slumber warm
a thousand dreamless years
forgotten deaths
of no woman born
a myriad of tears

shall I curse this demon?
as he was roused by me
he does not harm those wiser souls
that simply leave him be

the dragon’s breath
brought waking cold
a thousand nightmare’s debt
of lifeless deaths
without a soul
no mourner’s tears are wept

so may I curse the dragon?
for that which he must be
or does instead this curse belong
reflected back on me?
