No Working Title 1983

under a bed
in Birkenhead
she hid with me beside her
and shared a kiss
of virgin bliss
flavoured by cheap cider.

we’d play it cool
in Liverpool
when we would hit the scene
the music played
and love was made
by teenage libertines.

in London Town
the rain beat down
upon our confluence
there in the Smoke
love made a joke
and drowned our innocence.
