the dark is filled with evil stars
comets of ill omens bright
travellers that scourge our dreams
cold harbingers of an endless night.
plague and famine, death and fire
rise to meet their jeweled chains
and come some future will one star
bring down upon us hellish rain.
sweetest Venus shine on me
let my passions in your morn’
be inspired by your ascension
and rise for you come glory’s dawn.
I do not fear chains
save those of my own design
forged from memory
scream from within my psyche
prayers to a dead god
in the meter of his verse
the mark of time withstood
for in time’s waters is full writ
the truth lost to his blood.
in these ancient stones
carved by water’s patient hand
is his name revealed
he had breathed his last
in the company of gods
too blind to see him.
