Rainstorm

I recall the rainstorm on a Sunday
its impressionist repainting of the lake
we walked beside
changed the canvas from day to night
in both colour and form
we sought shelter in the boat house
without a roof
and laughed, and kissed and huddled together
until morning
when we promised each other our forevers

forever lasted until Tuesday.
