a soul dark as pitch
creeping between the shadows
observing my dreams
Month: October 2019
Red Sails
I set my red sails ‘fore no wind
in waters black with oil and calm
to a sea of silent monsters, blind
I was to the depths of harm
that dwelt below the mirror’s face
primeval nightmares, eons old
which slither silver from a place
of bloody ends, infernal cold.
Crimson masted tattered ghosts
drifted ‘ward me doldrum slow
and empty faces formed the host
leading me where, I do not know
then suddenly the water’s turned
the surface world around my keel
salt and pitch my life’s breath burned
and in that wave, death’s face…
…revealed
Morning
this golden morning
the earth awakes and breathes mist
ghosts return to dreams
All Aboard
all aboard the butterfly
the station master roared
passengers rushed to their seats
the baggage all was stored
wings were primed and nectar stoked
enough to last the day
the whistle blew and flags were waved
and the butterfly flew away.
Snow
the dreams fall like snow
frozen jewelled fantasies
melting in the night
The Unsaid
shy hangs the heart
that blushes red
at thoughts abandoned
lost, unsaid
wanton secrets
die unrevealed
and waste behind
lips left sealed.
Coral
he built his worlds
on the remains of memory
landscaped layers
from discarded thoughts
that lived too short
or slept too long.
Wine
as the harvest comes
I taste not bitter decay
only the sweet wine
Vines
across her shoulders
I trace the vines of desire
what fruit will they bear?
spaces
inbetween my words
where it seems there is nothing
you will find my breaths
