Daffodils

I always cared for flowers
and sometimes they cared back
I’d paint the dew on rose petals
and glue on leaves they lacked
but daffodils annoyed me
so contrary in their cares
who stand so proud in little cliques
their noses in the air
so I’d pluck them one by one
and steal them from the sun
then stick them up my jumper
to take home to my mum.
